Ephesus Tours
Ephesus… The most important antique city among the twelve Ionian cities still standing… The trade, culture and faith center of the ancient world; the priceless legacy of the Hellen,
Roman and Byzantine civilizations. Once the glorious Roman provincial capital of Asia Minor, it was in Ephesus that Mark Anthony and Cleopatra rode in procession, St. Paul preached to the Ephesians against the goddess Artemis, St. John composed the fourth Gospel and the Virgin
Mary spent her last days…

What you visit
Ephesus - Enter through the Magnesia Gate and begin a slow, downhill walk with your tour guide into the ruins of this Roman provincial capital. Your route takes you past the Odeon, the Celsus Library, the Temple of Hadrian, the Fountain of Trajan and the Great Theater. The Theater had seating for 25,000 and is used today for a local spring festival.
The Basilica of St. John:
Built by the Emperor Justinian over the tomb of Hagia John the Apostle, the Basilica, now in ruins, once rivaled Hagia Sophia in size. One can still see graceful columns, mosaics and frescoes.
Ephesus Museum:
This small museum in Selçuk boasts an incredible collection of Hellenistic and Roman statues, carved reliefs and artifacts unearthed from the ruins of Ephesus.
The House of the Virgin Mary:
The Vatican has announced this small house in the Solmissos Mountains as the final resting place of the Virgin Mary. A small shrine dedicated to St. Mary was found when the ruins of the house were first discovered.
What you see along the way From Kuşadası, you travel north to St. John’s Basilica, passing the Byzantine fortress at Selçuk and the ruins of the Temple of Artemis. Continue to Ephesus Museum then up to the House of Virgin Mary located in Bülbül Mountain. After the visit head for the upper gate of Ephesus. By the end of touring Ephesus, return to Kufladası.
