European Quality Congress in Antalya
It is recognized that Turkey, an aspirant for the full membership of EU, acts as a bridge between diverse religions, cultures and civilizations. This crucial position imposes on the country significant responsibilities for a lasting peace in the world. Having been home to many different cultures and religions for thousands of years, Anatolia holds a common heritage of eastern and western civilizations. This heritage provides a sound backgound for Turkey to use the diversity as a means of enriching the common values and thus promising the greatest contribution to the world peace.
Apart from this important mission, Turkey, with all its assests, has a lot to offer to Europe. If Europe, as a territory of prosperity where all institutions, laws and rules are based on quality and standards, embraces Turkey, it will come closer to universal values. In today’s world where diversity is regarded as richness, there is a tendency to reconcile differences and reach consensus on common values through dialoguerather than “leaving the odd one out”. Turkey, with its different culture, may offer the possibility of such a consensus for Europe and help it create fairer criteria and standards. The link between the European Organization for Quality and Turkey has relevance for such an important mission both for Europe and Turkey, in addition to the main purpose of partnership that involves “quality in every phase of production of goods and services”. The European Organization for Quality defines its main goal as contributing to the development of quality management concepts in Europe while it puts special emphasis on the belief that enlarged Europe with diverse cultures and economies is an opportunity for the success of all Europeans. It is then relevant to underline the fact that with all its diversity, rich historical and heritage riches, Turkey offers the greatest potential to achieve this end goal. All these reasons make the 49th Annual Congress of the European Organization for Quality, a special event for us.
“Quality: The Way to Sustainability” is the theme of the 49th EOQ Congress. Speakers from all over the world with high-level expertise in the sectors of science, education, government, industry and mass media will address the question of how to move towards sustainability through quality in all aspects of life. During the 30 parallel sessions as well as the 2 plenary sessions, you will have the opportunity to find out the latest trends and developments in different fields of quality, while contributing to your career as well as the success of the congress by sharing your experiences and thoughts on different aspects of quality with your colleagues as can be seen in the technical programme. Coffee breaks, lunches and the social programme will also create networking opportunities for this purpose.
Additionally, the city of Antalya where the Congress will be held is one of the most popular tourist resorts of Turkey, which provides visitors with many opportunities to explore and enjoy in a warm and sunny Mediterranean setting. We believe that four years after the much-praised 45th Congress held in ‹stanbul in 2001, the 49th Congress will not lag behind in success.
